Vincent Robles

Creative Director & Craftsman

About

Cherokee Point Woodworks is a small, locally owned business based in San Diego, founded and operated by craftsman and designer Vincent Robles. As the sole proprietor, Vincent oversees every aspect of the company’s day-to-day operations, from design and fabrication to client collaboration and project management.

Vincent has spent most of his life immersed in the world of creative building. Beginning his career at 15 as a construction laborer, he went on to apprentice under seasoned carpenters and journeymen, developing a strong foundation in craftsmanship. Over the years, he worked as a residential framer, finish carpenter, and property manager, all while putting himself through college.

Alongside his work in the trades, Vincent pursued his passion for art and design, earning a Master’s degree in Furniture Design from San Diego State University in 2013. It was during his time at SDSU that he refined his fine woodworking skills and deepened his understanding of materials and form. Following graduation, he emerged as an artist in the Southern California art scene, exhibiting a diverse body of work that included sculpture, installations, drawings, prints, and functional furniture in galleries, art venues, and private collections.

While continuing to create as an artist, Vincent built his professional career as a craftsman, educator, and designer, eventually founding Cherokee Point Woodworks. The company brings together his years of experience in art, design, and construction to create custom woodworking pieces and thoughtfully designed living spaces. As the principal designer, fabricator, and creative lead, Vincent partners with designers, builders, and architects to deliver high-quality, detail-driven projects tailored to each client’s vision.

In addition to his own practice, Vincent has contributed his expertise to a range of creative projects. In 2020, he worked as a fabricator on Ellen’s Next Designer and has collaborated on specialized builds for Google’s product teams. He has served as a production manager and fabricator for artist Roy McMakin and previously studied under and assisted acclaimed maker and educator Wendy Maruyama. His work has been featured in art publications, maker journals, and has earned multiple awards recognizing his craftsmanship and emerging artistry.
